Hi there and welcome to my site! My motto has always been family first! I am focused on helping others through my books, training, speaking and consulting, however, I find that if I am not living what I am teaching I can’t be an effective leader. If you know me, you understand that while I always love to help you I can only do what I do because that is one of my guiding principles. I encourage you to look at the guiding principles in your life and shine a light on them. Recognize why you do what you do. It will help you make decisions on what’s next in your life!
My Guiding Principles
Children Deserve our Best! – So, Bring It Every Day!
This principle should be self-explanatory, however here is my explanation. I think that people who are parents choose to bring children in to this world. It is our job, duty, obligation to raise children to become good, productive, kind, hardworking, and compassionate individuals. There is no time to do that like the present. Do no put off spending extra time with your child and instilling these values (or whatever your guiding values are) in your child. They do not learn from one event, one teaching or one week of parenting. These values need to be instilled daily through teaching, example and reinforcement. I don’t think that the easy way out is usually the best and the path of least resistance is usually not worth the effort of walking down.
Family First- Period
If you can at all make your life work around your family, then you should! I don’t think that in today’s busy, hectic, all too much marketed to society that you should only see your kids for an hour before bedtime if you’re lucky! There is a season for everything and when you sacrifice everything for work, what is left for you? I know occasionally you may have to miss an event here or there, however, If you’re lucky maybe your work and family life can be made to work together! Think about it, what can you do to make that happen? Today anything is possible, Don’t Give UP!
Perfection Doesn’t Win- Persistence with Consistency Does!
We are all hard on ourselves, yes you! You don’t think you are, but I guarantee you are! I didn’t think I was either! I can do anything- just ask me :). Do you know how long I have been working on some of my projects that still have to launch? Years! Yes Years! I didn’t know enough, I didn’t have enough help. I should be able to do it all myself! Hear that? That doesn’t sound too much like being hard on yourself does it? But look at the underlying things that aren’t quite said! Enough said. I am kicking butt and taking names from here on out!
Watch out World!
Profit First
If you haven’t read the book and you’re an entrepreneur, you should. No affiliation and I make nothing if you go read the book! If you don’t make a profit in your business, you cannot sustain your business. If I don’t make a profit I can’t help people, I can’t employ people and I can’t continue to operate my business. Money doesn’t come before people, ever. However, being profitable is what business is about. I don’t expect to work for free and I don’t expect you to work for free either. I respect your right to earn a living and support the causes you believe in and I am proud to support mine.
If you work with me or you want to work with me, you need to have similar Guiding Principles. I am not saying that they need to be the same, or you need to have kids or be married. I am just saying that you need to understand that to work with or for me these things are not negotiable!
